Happy Holiday's

I wish all of you a restful winter break and hope you get to spend some quality time with your family. My gift to you is no blog for this week and we will only have one more blog for the semester.

Take some time over the break to reflect on what went well this past year. What things were you successful in and where could you use more work? Set your self up for a great 2014 by making a plan to address those areas that need work, by either tackling them head on if they are necessary or letting them go completely if they are not.

See you in the New Year,
Mr. Kirk

  1. This year was pretty surreal in terms of trying new sport-like things-- I tried a lot of things that I did not expect to try, ended up liking a few of them, and plan on continuing on with them. I learned a lot about weight training and even a little anatomy from class and various books. Overall, I'm pretty proud of what I've accomplished strength, endurance, etc.-wise this year, although I need to work on form a little (still can't figure out how to powerclean) and be more mindful of not overexerting myself.

  2. 2013 was a good year for me physically. Once school started i increased almost all my weights in almost every exercise. This training program in class has also helped me to perfect my technique as well as give me a wrok out whenn i dont have as much time after school. this class has also exposed my weaknbessesw. In 2014 i hope to increase my deadlift as well as my endurance. I have decided to focus on being more well rounded as an athlete rather then trying to get bigger which was initially my goal.

  3. This year was pretty satisfyingfor me, physically. I met most of the goals I made earlier in the yearand went further than I thought I could go on some of them. I could use more work on endurance though. My endurance isn't as good as I would like it to be. In 2014 I plan on improving my mile time and my 400 run.

  6. 2013 was a really good year for me physically. I increased in almost every category. I still need to work on my endurance. It is pretty weak and will be working on it when I get back.

  7. I have increased my overall strength, but the difference becomes less noticeable as I increase my strength. I need to increase my reps and weights. My form for powerclean is still not very good, but other than that I think my deadlift, squat forms are okay. I could use some help on the mile run.

  8. Overall, I must say that the year was somewhat satisfying as I increase my overall strength as the year was coming to an end. I was able to increase my biceps strength as I reached new , unexpected, highs in both my bench press and deadlifts. However, I still need to improve upon my squats, push press form ,and overall leg strength. So although it was a good year, I plan to improve next year to increase my abilities in these fields

  9. The areas of lifting weight such as bench presses and back squats, I had success in. However, I still need to improve my deadlift and power cleans. My pushups still need improvements; I also should focus on arm muscles a bit more this year.

  10. 2013 started off great and was good until about September before that i was lifting almost everyday with football or by my self but once our games started i stop lifting and our team stop lifting so i lost a lot of strength. my plan for 2014 is workout whenever i can and when i workout work harder and longer so i can get as strong as possible trying to get my bench squat clean bead and push press higher

2013 was an okay year when looking at my physical activity. During 2013, it was more of regaining my previous strength and stamina I used to had in the year 2012. However, towards the end of 2013, I began breaking some PR and even surpassed my endurance level when comparing to 2012. The area I need to work on is bench press, which is the only hated exercise and weak area I have.
