Period 7 - Nutrition

Last week we looked at sleep and the average for all of my classes was right around 7 hours of sleep.  We need to make a conscious effort to get that up to at least 8.

This week we will start the talk about nutrition.  Poor nutrition will overwhelm any amount of exercise and it will do so quickly.  There are many conflicting views on what proper nutrition is and we will look at some of them, but our focus will be on the essential nutrients the body needs to perform at it's best.  We will look at your current feeding habits and see if you are getting enough of the right things and if not make positive changes.

For this initial blog I want you to tell me what you have had to eat for your past three meals.  Don't include snacks just whole meals and be sure to include what yo had to drink with those meals.

  1. My lunch was a turkey sandwich with lettuce and tomato, a few wheat thins and a 100 claorie pack. And water. My breakfast was a bowl of strawberry special k with milk. And my last dinner was meat lasagna and bread with water.

    Lunch: ham sandwich with whole wheat bread an apple, wafers, water
    Dinner: Salmon, broccoli, crescent rolls with milk

  4. To drink with all, I just had water. And random Propels and Gatorades through the day.
    -Korean bone soup thing, with rice, ribs, some weird vegetable mash up thing, and potatoes
    -Chicken wraps with pepper, lettuce, chicken, cheese, and onion in it
    -Rice bowl with red pepper paste thing, beef, potatoes, onions, chicken... I think? and peppers in it.

  6. Breakfast: bowl of cereal (frosted flakes) with a small glass of orange juice
    Lunch: two peanut butter sandwiches, a bag of potato chips and a bottle of water
    Dinner: rice and black beans with chicken, plantains and a glass of water

  7. Typically when I wake up...IF..I eat breakfast I will drink a glass of orange juice and have either a banana or an apple.

    Aside from trying to cut weight due to wrestling starting, when I do eat lunch I will typically have a bottle of water and 2 low calorie/fat free yogurts, an apple, or a bagel.

    For dinner I usually have some salad with a bit of meat; be either turkey, or some chicken with some orange juice. Occasionally I will also throw in another banana or apple.

    (Outside of the wrestling season I typically will have a bowl of cereal for breakfast, whatever I can get my hands on for lunch and a full course meal for dinner with meat, vegies, potatoes or some type of carbs with milk or water.)

  9. Today for lunch i had a turkey sandwich with cheese, a granola bar, a cheese stick, grapes, fig newtons and a bottle of water.

    For breakfast I had 2 waffles with syrup and a glass of milk

    For dinner last night I had fish with rice and brussel sprouts and 2 glasses of cranberry juice

    Lunch: Peanut butter and jelly sandwich, apple, two bottles of water, package of oreos.

    Dinner: pasta w/ meat-tomato sauce and cheese. Water. Brocolli. Small cup of ice cream.
