I came across an interesting news segment yesterday and wanted to
share it with you. Click on the link to watch the news piece of a high
school in California who's workouts are similar to our metcons. For
this weeks blog I want to know two things.
1. Can we
take them? If we were to compete against them in a metcon who would
win?
2. Can you pick out any individuals on the video
who's form could use a little help and how would you help them.
Here
is the video
Yes we can take them. The fat kid doing heavy lifting used improper form.

1. We could definitely take them. We both have high test scores, but we have more athletes, and we work out harder.
ReplyDelete2. A guy doing dumbbell swings at the end wasn't getting his butt down and was bending his back to compensate. If he would keep his back more straight and move his hips more up and down, it would be more effective.
Andrew Jasen
1 of course we would win one they just started with there metcons we have been doing them for a while and we are taught by mr kirk your cant get better than that
ReplyDelete2 when the teacher is showin the kid to dead lift he kinda wabbles in the squat.
matthew kay
1. We would win because we work the hardest. The type of the workout doesn't count. It's how hard you work.
ReplyDelete2. Some people were dead lifting/push pressing wrong. I would tell them to keep their chest out/ keep your elbows in front of your hands/ keep your back straight, etc.
Bruce Recht
I think we'd have a pretty good chance of winning; they're learning new Olympic lifts that they've never done before and we're learning new metcons.
ReplyDeleteTowards the end, the person doing the kettle bell swings is rounding his back alot, he needs to straighten it out.
Victor Shen
1. Yes we can take them and would probably win because i believe our class is more physically fit.
ReplyDelete2.There were many kids who needed help with form such as 1 or 2 who had bad form with deadlifting, at least 1 with bad situps (technique), and I would help them by doing what we do with the pvc at the beginning of some classes to keep their 3 points intact and result in better form. And for the situps constant repetition would help fix bad form.
I think we could win in a competition. The kid who was doing the dead lifts wasn't keeping his back straight.

1. umm...yea? one the kids just learned how to do their first push up! enough said. It also sounded like this program was implemented because a large percentage of the kids never participated in extracurricular activities.
ReplyDelete2. Their was a quick clip of one kid who it looked like was trying to clean the bar up to his chest to begin shoulder pressing it. He did not clean it at all. He used all upper body to get it up. If he engages his core and lower body to lift the bar up to his chest, it would be much better.

1. Yes we can easily take them but i feel that they too will put up a good fight. We would win.
ReplyDelete2. I saw a kid doing push ups with curved back and i would help him by keeping his back straight and his hips up.
I don't know if we would win because i don't know the students' records. Accordnig to our class, i think that we have done a good job, but we have to keep trying more.
ReplyDeleteWatching the video, i observed a student, who was squating, using a wrong technique. I would help him by telling him to keep his back straight.
Georgie Giannos
Yes we could beet them in a metcon because I think our class is much more fit
ReplyDeleteOne of the kids doing power cleans had bad form, he would need to jump more instead of just curling up the weight
~ Michael Panagos
1.) Yes we would definitely win. There is no doubt in mind that we would win, they may put up a fight but there is not a contest.
ReplyDelete2.) I saw a kid doing crunches who was rounding their back. One kid doing thrusters/squats put their knees in front of their feet. Also, a kid doing pushups was rounding his back and had his butt down.
-Alex Istaphanous
I feel as we would be able to win because we are more physically fit and have more endurance.
ReplyDeleteI noticed there was a student squating without his back being straight
-Konstantin Mekhontsev
We could take any of the classes
ReplyDeleteOne of the kids power cleaning in the video looked like he was using his arms to bring the bar up
Lawrence Byun
Our class can take anyone on. We would win in any type of metcon, we would probably crush them mostly in cindys or frans. The few kids doing the powercleans needs to improve their thriple extention and needs more improvement in thier explosive power
ReplyDelete~Charlie You
We would win easily.
ReplyDeleteThere was a kid who had bad form on his squat, there was 1 who was bending his back on the deadlift and there was a kid who wasnt doing his pushups right
Yusuf Khan
We can definitely take them. The kid doing dead lifts had to keep his back straight.
ReplyDeleteDalton Carlson
We can take them in a metcon
ReplyDeleteAt 1:34 the kid was bending his back as he was deadlifting
