Blog #3 Weight Training - Program Update

We are one week into our four week program. I have my opinion of how things are going, but I would like to know your's.  For this weeks blog answer the following questions.

  1. What are your overall feelings about the four week workout?
  2. Do you feel that you and/or your group are using your time effectively?
  3. How could you improve the use of your in class time?
  4. Are there any changes you need to make to your goals based on one week of workouts?

  13. 1.) I enjoy the 4 week workout because I am able to design a workout that suits my goals and allows me to train specific lifts and spend in depth time with each lift.
    2.)I do feel like my group works effectively because when we come in we immediately begin warming-up and we get straight into our lifting, no fooling around
    3.) I think reducing rest time and time spent paying attention to distractions would make us more efficient

  14. 1. I like the four week workout because we chose what we wanted to do and we actually do it and make sure everybody gets a good amount of work. I also like it because we could choose people that have the same goals and strength as you.
    2. We do work effectively because we design our workouts so they fit into the time we have.
    3. We could improve it by being more focused on the actual workout and making sure we do the same sets and reps.

    2. I belive my group specifially is using our time very effectively.
    3. We could do shorter workouts that are tough but extremely effective to help get a good workout while having plenty of class time.

    2.)I am using my time very effectivley, for example if for some reason I do finish early I will do more secondary excersizes like pull ups of weighted lundges
    3.)I can't really improve how I use class time all to much
    4.)I may have to bring down the goal for my mile time because I missed a week of school

    4.i need to move my goals up more and i have to increase my weight for my exercises because the weight i put for myself on the sheet is too low.

  35. 1) I believe the 4 week plan will allow me to effectively reach my goals better than doing entire class workouts
    2) I think my group and myself are using our time effectively. We are 100% on it during the workout and add things if there is time left over
    3) We use every minute of class time for our workout. The only thing we could do would be to super-set every exercise; but that would be counteracting our goals.
    4) Our workout has proven to be effective so far, but we have learned that some days go quicker than others so some exercises will be added to the select days.

  36. 1.) i like the 4 week workout program. It feels good being in control of your workouts and what you do every day.
    2.) Yes i feel we are using our time effectivly. We are working every day and usually are busy till the end of class.
    3.) I think my group should mobilize a little more in the beggining of class. we are going inot our lifts to quickly.
    4.) yes, because of my injury i need to adjust my goals for bench press, powerclean, deadlift, and pullups because im not able to do those lifts. I would like to maintain what i lift on those lifts.

  45. 1. I am working hard at all my exercises, but there tends to be less classtime than i would like, so i will have to stay after sometimes to get in what i need.
    2. I am using what time i have efficiently
    3. i could do other exercises while i rest between certain sets
    4. I should think about what i will do at the gym over the weekend.

  46. 1) I like the 4 week workout because it means that if I need to, I can switch the days of my workouts around. If for some reason I can't do the workout I had planned for today, then I can just do the one I had planned for tomorrow instead. It's very convenient.
    2) I'm using my time effectively because I'm getting my workouts done before the end of class with just enough time left over to clean up.
    3) By transitioning from workout to workout more smoothly.
    4) Yes, because I haven't been able to work at my running goal as much as I would have liked.

  48. 1. I like the idea of having a four-week program since it can be more personalized for you and your personal goals and help you achieve them quicker.
    2. I think I am using my time efficiently. If I ever do finish early, I always find another work out to add in.
    3. I could try to avoid under-programming by adding in more sets or workouts.
    4. I don't think I need to change my goals right now. Everything is going pretty well.

  49. 1). I think that I need to redesign my program, because, although it is not faulty, it lacks enough of a punch to really help me meet my goals.
    2). I belive that we are using our time effectively, because we often do not have any time for anything but working out, and if we do, we fill it with auxillary lifts.
    3). Instead of lollygagging in between sets, I could do some minor auxillary lifts, if such an action is appropriate to the situation, of course.
    4). Yes, although my new goal to look better and jump higher is not based on the workouts, but rather on external sources. Also, after doing bench press, I realized I will probably not reach my goal of increasing it by 15 pounds.

    2. For the most part I feel I am, and my group is using our time wisely. There have been days where I've been too tired from morning practice to work hard, but I always do my lifts.

    3. More cohesive group work and communication.

    4. Given my goals, I believe that my four week program is progressing well and does not require any changes.

    2. Our group isn't bad, but it is still not as efficient as when you lead the class.

    3) As my shoulder gets stronger I would like to incorporate more exercises into my day.

    3) A way to better use our class time would be to superset our work outs, and using the end of class to do core work.
    4) There was no reason to change my goals.

  74. 1. I believe that the four week workout is a good idea, but unfortunately time management is an issue.
    2. Yes my group did effectively manage our time, but in some cases we under planned for certain days, and were left with a lot of leftover time after workouts.
    3. More sets could be added to the workouts so that there is less time left at the end of the workout.
    4. My Bench goal should definitely be changed, I didn't add enough chest variation to my workout for me to make the strength gains that i put down on my goal sheet.
